David Gandy, born in 1980 in Billericay, Essex, is a British model of Scottish descent, best known for his advert for Dolce & Gabbana's fragrance "Light Blue".

Gandy is the object of lust to a whole nation of women and gay men, thanks to a memorable appearance in a perfume advert wearing little more than a tiny pair of white pants. The ad for designer brand Dolce & Gabbana’s latest aftershave Light Blue shows an

extremely provocative close-up shot of David in the skimpy briefs as he gives the camera his best seductive stare.

The 6ft 2in hunk is not that new, as he started modeling in 2001 for London agency Select, and featured prominently in D&G's 2006 campaigns.

It was friends who got him into modeling, by posting his photograph to a "Male Model

competition". At the time, he had a job delivering cars to a car magazine – a nice but undemanding gig that ended when he won the contest. He was taken on by Select Model Management, one of the country’s leading agencies, and spent the next five years toiling away in relative obscurity, doing catalogue work.

Soon after Gandy can be seen sulking in the pages of numerous magazines as he fronts campaigns for Zara, a 50ft. billboard in Times Square and a front cover of L'Optimun, just to mention a few.

The marketing graduate says the reaction to his D&G ad, where he floats on a dinghy in the sea wearing those soaking wet trunks and passionately kisses the female model lying beneath him is “hugely flattering”. But he downplays the hype and admits everything has its limits:

"I have been approached by some really great people to do acting. However, I really don't want to be one of those horrid model/actors," he says.

"I would prefer to know i had some talent before moving on to acting, as I'm just enjoying doing well in the modelling industry at the moment."
